Example of cover letter for an Internship in Project Management

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to you to apply for the two-month internship which is available at your company. I am currently in the final year of my Project management Master’s degree at Nottingham University and I would very much like to carry out my internship in a reputable and prestigious company such as yourself.

Throughout the degree I have covered many aspects of this profession and I have also gained some valuable on-the-job experience through previous internships.

I have extensive classroom knowledge and also through my internships I have been able to help to lead a small development team, seeing projects through from start to finish. This has given me valuable experience in planning, executing, monitoring and closing a variety of small projects. I feel that this background would make me a very suitable candidate to fill the available position.

I am a highly organised and self-motivated person, have excellent communication skills and thrive in the high-pressure environment that this position brings; being a solid team member and also the ability to work independently. I work efficiently and make sure that the job is done to the best of my abilities, whilst working to tight deadlines and being able to multi-task and use my initiative when called upon to do so.

You can see in my attached CV that I have often been recognised for my work at University during modules such as; PM software and the Project management professional qualification. I have shown, on numerous occasions, that I can effectively use the methodologies for project scheduling, issue tracking and resource management. My objective is to make positive contributions to your organisation whilst also learning and developing my expertise in this sector.

I am available at your convenience for further discussion about any role which you may have available for me and how I can be of benefit to your company. Please feel free to contact me if you require any further information. Thank you for taking the time to look over my application and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely
