Homework subject

Hi! I have to do a presentation about the "Troubles" in Ireland for my History class. Can someone help me list what happened during the troubles in Norther Ireland please?

Homework progress

For now I have:

The Provisional IRA (Irish Republican Army) wanted Northern Ireland to be united with Eire. They used terrorist tactics. A long period of serious violence was known as the Troubles (1969-1998). Over 3000 people were killed and many more injured on both sides of the conflict.

Here are some key events that happened during the Troubles:

  • From 1971 the IRA began killing British soldiers.
  • The IRA started bombing commercial targets like the Belfast city center in 1972.
  • In 1973 the bombing spread to England. In 1974 there were pub bombings in Guildford and Birmingham. The Brighton hotel combing in 1984 was an attempt to kill Margaret Thatcher.
  • In 1997 the IRA agreed to a ceasefire.
  • In 1998, the British and Irish governments, and most Northern Ireland political parties including Sinn Fein (associated with the IRA) signed the Good Friday Agreement. It was a move towards power-sharing in Norther Ireland.
